QAD GXE for Decoma UK and Intier
QAD Inc., provider of manufacturing enterprise software applications, today announced that Decoma UK Ltd and Intier Automotive have successfully completed implementation of QAD GXE, the Global Enterprise Edition. Intier Automotive migrated from a version of QAD MFG/PRO that was five years old and still carrying a legacy from previous owning company Johnson Controls company to a QAD GXE platform hosted at the Decoma site. Intier’s sister company Decoma was able to provide resources, implementation experience and IT infrastructure. In addition to the data migration, both Intier and Decoma were able to streamline their systems, reportedly to make the way for another planned migration from QAD MFG / PRO to QAD GXE.
Decoma IT manager Garry Bowers said, “we plan to migrate our own system to QAD GXE, the Global Enterprise Edition. … Although a total move to lean manufacturing is some way off, we plan to pave the way this year by putting the foundations in place as part of this upgrade.” The Intier team extracted their data from their Germany-based and used spreadsheets in the process of moving static data to the Decoma site. An electronic data interchange gateway was constructed so that Intier could upload orders from OEM customers with a server and mailbox operating separately from the Decoma system. Intier Automotive Interiors specializes in the development and manufacture of vehicle interior components; producing systems for the global automotive industry; and providing vehicle interior integration and program management solutions.
