Agassi serves it up
One interview that’s been making the rounds online is a tete-a-tete over at ZDNet with Shai Agassi, president of SAP Product and Technology Group, who spoke with reporters at News.com as ZDNet.
This Agassi is no tennis superstar, but he did manage to take the opportunity to go on the offensive against who else but Oracle. Agassi also got on the pulpit about a favorite topic in the industry media today, that “the fundamental rules governing platforms are changing, just as SAP’s R/3 ushered in the era of client/server ERP.” Read: the death of software-based SOA.
Oracle Fusion was a big target for Agassi. ZDNet blogger Dan Farber hilariously wrote that Agassi “dissed Oracle fusion” for not have a clear roadmap for release. According to Farber, Agassi knows of “no company that has converted from SAP to Oracle, despite Oracle’s various marketing programs, including Off SAP, to attract users of older versions of SAP software.”
The Farber entry on Agassi can be found at http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=3583, and a video interview with Agassi is at http://zdnet.com/1606-2_2-6113898.html.
