Datamonitor report: Viva Mexico!
In a report entitled “Mexico: A solution for the US Hispanic Market?” independent market analyst Datamonitor concludes that Mexico will continue to play host to offshore customer care outsourcing for years to come. With the continuing increase in both population and spending power within the Hispanic and Spanish-speaking markets in America, Mexico’s leading position in North America should remain so for quite some time, should trends continue.
Estimates within the report see call center agent positions multiplying to increase to almost 240% of today’s number by the end of the decade: Today’s 33,500 positions becomes approximately 80,000 by 2010, equating to 18% compounded annual growth through this period. “Not only does the huge pool of Spanish-speaking talent benefit US companies looking for these language skills to accommodate US Latino customers,” said Datamonitor outsourcing and offshoring analyst Peter Ryan, but the location cannot be beat […].
While locations in South America can be up to fifteen hours travel time, accessing major centers in Mexico can be done in less than half the time.” Currently, Mexico looks good in the sector. But the report also makes mention of growing Latin and South American nations lining up to compete: Panama, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Chile and Argentina.
