Ex-eBayer joins Salesforce board
How important has eBay become in the industry? Important enough to have its former chief operating officer poached by Salesforce.com.
Hustling on-demand solutions provider Salesforce closed out its week with the announcement that Maynard Webb would be joining the firm’s board of directors, effective immediately. Webb’s term on the board will run until 2009.
The Salesforce board of directors reads like something of an all-star team of corporate bigwigs, including representatives from PeopleSoft (former CEO Craig Conway), Hasbro Inc. (chairman Alan Hassenfeld), VeriSign (chairman / CEO Stratton Sclavos), Hewlett-Pakcard (former senior vice president Larry Tomlinson) and Shirley Young Associates (president Shirley Young), among others.
Webb served as chief operating officer at eBay, Inc. from June 2002 to August 2006 and was responsible for the company-wide implementation of all business strategies. Webb had moved into this position from the president’s seat at eBay Technologies. Prior his time at eBay, Webb was senior vice president and chief information officer at Gateway, Inc., and his resume includes stints at Quantum, Thomas Conrad, Figgie International, and IBM.
