Extensio extensions

Information integration and delivery technology providers Extensio Software, Inc. have announced the beta release of the Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution for SAP-MS Office users. The Extensio solution seeks to enable users of Microsoft Office 2000 and later releases to interact with SAP and non-SAP data from within Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Windows Desktop. With the solution, information services from SAP 3.1H+ and mySAP repositories can be delivered on Microsoft Office 2000, XP, and 2003 interfaces.

The Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution for SAP-MS Office users is based on Extension Information Suite and consists of the Extensio Information Delivery Server, an SOA-based server; the Extensio SAP adapter, a Java-based connector; Extensio Extender for Microsoft Excel and Outlook; and Extensio Extender for Microsoft Desktop, an application that provides SAP data into desktop applications. The Extensio Extenders for Excel, Outlook, and the desktop communicate with the Extensio information server. The Extensio information server connects to SAP and non-SAP data sources such as other enterprise applications, databases and web services to deliver information services to be consumed by the various extenders.

The services are developed with Extensio Studio, a RAD toolkit which is promised by company PR “to quickly build Extensio information services in a day or two.” Extensio Software, Inc. is a provider of end-to-end information access and delivery solutions. Extensio provides real time information to Microsoft desktops; SMS and WAP devices; and portals from packaged applications, databases, or Internet.
