Having a good Friday and then a good weekend

Friday seems like a strange day to start a job, but don’t tell the folks at Convergys Corporation that. Convergys today welcomes Dr. Bawa Singh to the position of interim vice president and country manager for Convergys customer care operation in India. Singh is taking over the vice presidential post from Rakesh Chopra, who resigned from Convergys effective July 3, to pursue those ubiquitous “other interests.”

In the position, Dr. Singh will be responsible for overseeing the operations of eight Convergys Corporation contact centers and approximately 10,000 customer care employees. Singh will be located in New Delhi and he will report to Clint Streit, executive vice president of global operations for Convergys’ Customer Care business. Prior to joining Convergys, Dr. Singh served as vice president of global operations for a division of UnitedHealth Group, where he led the corporate offshore strategy development and implementation process.

Previously, he served as vice president of international business development and general manager of offshore operations for Stream International, a technical support and customer service outsourcing provider. Dr. Singh holds a doctorate and an M.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati and an M.E. from the University of Florida. He also holds a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.

Convergys Corporation provides customer care, human resources, and billing services, delivering outsourced solutions, consulting services, and software support. Industries in which Convergys works include communications, financial services, technology, and consumer products. Cincinnati-headquartered Convergys has more than 65,000 employees in 72 customer contact centers, three data centers, and other facilities on four continents. The Convergys clientele base boasts customers in seventy-one countries and of thirty-four languages. In India, Convergys employs more than 11,000 in nine facilities throughout India.
