How do you say “Sugar” in Irish?
Open source CRM software provider SugarCRM Inc. today announced the opening of Sugar Europe. Specifically, the office is located in verdant Dublin, Ireland. SugarCRM co-founder Clint Oram will serve as general manager of Sugar Europe from the Emerald Isle base.
SugarCRM cited widespread adoption of its program across Europe (with strongest growth in France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands) as prime reason for plunking down the office. Company figures show that about one-quarter of SugarCRM’s commercial customers are located in Europe and more than 30 percent of Sugar Open Source downloads take place in Europe. And Synolia of Lyon, France, was the very first SugarCRM partner.
In addition to hiring a local team in Dublin during 2007, Sugar Europe plans to focus on delivering full localization of support materials for the French and German markets, expanding the Sugar On-Demand infrastructure, and raising awareness of the benefits of the commercial open source market in Europe.
