NET goes Microsoft
A switch of big guys for Network Equipment Technologies is coming next year, as Oracle is out and Microsoft Corporation is in. Microsoft representatives were proud to announce that Network Equipment Technologies Inc., a provider of multiservice network exchange solutions for government and enterprise clients, has chosen Microsoft Dynamics AX for its enterprise resource planning activities.
In a quote that certainly won’t make the Oracle monster happy, Talbot Harty, chief information officer and general manager of voice and mobility solutions at NET, said, “The decision to move away from Oracle ERP software to Microsoft Dynamics AX was a straightforward business decision for NET.”
NET will implement the new ERP system in April 2007, representing the beginning of the fiscal year for the firm. NET hopes to use Microsoft’s business management solution to streamline sales transactions and financial systems, and augment supply chain and contract manufacturing facilities. With Microsoft Dynamics, NET seeks to use the “flexible configuration of sales transactions” to ensure more efficient automation of activities ranging from updating raw material and subassembly stock to tracking order status and creating invoices.
Microsoft Dynamics AX will sit atop NET’s overall Microsoft platform, allowing data management from Microsoft SQL Server via typical Microsoft Office desktop applications. The company will also take advantage of significant back-end development built on the Microsoft .NET Web services strategy and SharePoint Portal Server technology, while integrating NET’s own VX Voice Exchange with Microsoft’s unified communications solution to provide an integrated business systems platform.
Fullscope Inc. will deploy the Microsoft Dynamics AX solution for NET.
Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Fremont, Calif., Network Equipment Technologies currently employs 250 in thirty offices worldwide.
