SugarCRM Expands CRM Portfolio with Sugar Enterprise Edition
Includes New Database, Mobility, Reporting & Extensibility Features
Cupertino, CA (August 15, 2005) –
SugarCRM Inc. today announced Sugar Enterprise Edition, an addition to its suite of commercial open source Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products that extend the reach of the SugarCRM platform into a wider range of business environments. Key features include Oracleâ,,¢ 9i support, an Offline Client, advanced reporting, and the Module Loader for plug-and-play installation of third-party extensions. Sugar Enterprise Edition sells for $449 per user per year, including technical support.
Sugar Enterprise enables more organizations to take advantage of the benefits of SugarCRM’s open source CRM platform, including low total cost of ownership, open standards enabling low-cost integration with legacy customer databases, and a straightforward user interface without the complexity that frequently causes traditional CRM implementations to fail. These factors have led more than 250 companies to purchase Sugar Professional Edition since it launched last September – rivaling the customer base of most proprietary CRM products – and has also resulted in more than 260,000 downloads of Sugar Open Source Edition.
Sugar Enterprise extends these benefits to organizations of all sizes that have advanced database, mobility, reporting and customization requirements. It includes all capabilities of Sugar Professional plus:
* OracleTM 9i support, bringing the SugarCRM platform into larger environments. Sugar Enterprise supports both OracleTM 9i and MySQLTM.
* Offline client, offering automatic synchronization of all changes made to the CRM data by traveling users working from an airplane, car, hotel room or any other offline location the next time they connect to the Internet. The client interface is identical to the main application, maximizing user productivity.
* Advanced reporting, allowing administrators to write multidimensional queries directly using SQL queries in order to report on complex associations beyond those available with the standard reporting module. Reports can show detailed, crossover information stored in areas that are managed by different user roles.
Sugar Enterprise also simplifies the installation and management of third-party add-on modules with a new Module Loader that is being simultaneously released in Version 3.5 of SugarCRM’s Open Source and Professional editions. This new extensible module framework allows users to add or remove third-party modules without programming and keeps the add-ons separate from the base application code, allowing core updates to be made without affecting accessory modules. To date, SugarCRM community software developers have created more than 80 Sugar Suite accessory modules, ranging from language translation packs to document and knowledge management systems, timesheets, database backups and Java synchronization.
“The widespread adoption of our Open Source and Professional editions has clearly demonstrated the value of our platform for managing customer interactions, and the advanced capabilities of our new Enterprise Edition make our CRM platform available to a much broader audience,” said John Roberts, CEO of SugarCRM. “The new Sugar Enterprise opens the door to other businesses with more advanced needs that are looking for a proven, low-cost, alternative to proprietary CRM programs.”
