Platinum for Teradata
Teradata and client company Overstock.com have taken the 2006 platinum award for overall excellence from the National Center for Database Marketing. Teradata and Overstock.com also bagged a gold award for technology applications from the NCDM. The awards honor organizations that “have demonstrated ingenuity and creativity in leveraging their marketing databases,” and are presented annually by the Direct Marketing Association and Direct Magazine.
Teradata collaborated with Overstock.com in an initiative to re-architect its business platform and marketing programs. The online retailer implemented a data warehouse-driven customer relationship management program in sixty days, and Overstock.com has reported “dramatically extend[ing] its direct marketing capabilities.” Within one year of implementation, Overstock.com claimed achievement of complete payback on their multimillion dollar IT investment.
Overstock.com today contacts over 300 segments weekly with personalized data, as compared to pre-implementation of the data warehouse and CRM tools, when mail to fewer than 20 segments could be achieved with no personalization. The complete list of the NCDM Database Excellence Awards winners is available on the Direct Marketing Association website.
