SAP scores in Gartner survey
Gartner has spoken again, this time on enterprise software vendors. Naturally, SAP AG representatives jumped to release the news that their firm had been named the number one enterprise software vendor. And not only can SAP lay claim to top-dog status, the firm also pulled off a triple crown within the title. Based on market share numbers, the survey was carried out by Gartner, Inc. division Gartner Dataquest.
Gartner Dataquest reports analyzed the status of the worldwide enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and supply chain management markets; this analysis suggests that SAP tops the list in all three enterprise software markets and that SAP now has the largest market share in the ERP-enterprise asset management segment. The often-quoted statistics from Gartner, Inc. last month indicate that the global CRM market experienced healthy growth, with total software revenues growing 13.7 percent.
SAP was called the number one CRM worldwide market share holder in that study, with a YoY growth rate of 19.6 percent based on total software revenue. SAP now ranks first in all four of the ERP software segments: enterprise asset management, financial management systems, human capital management, and manufacturing operations. The company has achieved a 21.4-per cent YoY growth in the enterprise asset management market.
Gartner, Inc. press material noted that, for the first time, the market share for the worldwide enterprise software market segments based on the total software revenue metric to reflect the changes in the industry (e.g. open-source software, on-demand business models, new regulations) was calculated. Stamford, Conn.-based Gartner, Inc. is a combination of four branches devoted to the gathering and analyzing of “technology-related insight”: Gartner Research, Gartner Executive Programs, Gartner Consulting and Gartner Events. Founded in 1979, Gartner now has 3,900 associates (including 1,200 research analysts and consultants) in 75 countries worldwide and serves 10,000 organizations.
